Why give

Our faculty members are working on research design and analysis locally and in countries throughout the world on a diverse range of topics, including childhood cancer and various infectious diseases, such as Ebola, dengue fever and cholera. With your support, we can continue to develop new statistical research methods to address the most serious public health problems of our time.

Clinical and health psychology is at the forefront of promoting positive health behaviors, adherence and resilience, which can help prevent chronic disease and limit negative impacts for people who do experience chronic illness. By giving to the department, you are supporting one of the most important health care interventions … health behavior change. Donations support research on improving resilience and reducing health disparities, and education to equip the next generation with tools for understanding and enhancing health behavior change.

Environmental and global health

Our faculty members are highly recognized for their research in areas such as cholera, malaria, respiratory viruses, environmental toxicology, nanoscience, aquatic animal health and water quality and sanitation. With your support, we can contribute scientific breakthroughs that will make our environment safe for populations all over the world.

Epidemiology faculty members focus on addiction, bioinformatics, cancer, cardiovascular disease, chronic disease, genetic epidemiology, infectious disease, social and psychiatric epidemiology, prevention, women’s health and global health. Gifts to our department support our efforts to improve the health of the community directly through our research, outreach and training the next generation of scientists.

We may not be seen in hospital rooms or labs working directly with patients, but our reach is far and wide. Faculty members and Ph.D. students conduct research that has real-life application for improving health care delivery. Our master’s degree graduates are trained to use that knowledge and make decisions about their organization’s finances, quality and access to care. Donations help support our research efforts, enhance student educational experiences and increase our program’s visibility in the field.

Occupational therapy

The department is nationally known for its research in aging, assistive technology, driving safety and autism. Donations help support student scholarships, advance research and build stronger community service. Your generosity helps to ensure we remain at the forefront of academic excellence in OT and that those who learn and train here are superbly prepared to treat and heal.

Physical therapy

The department is impacting the future of physical therapy through leadership and advocacy positions in professional organizations, community service, research discoveries that advance rehabilitation and improve quality of life, and education and mentoring in a dynamic learning environment. Donations support student scholarships, build research capacity and strengthen community services. Ultimately, your gift helps the department of physical therapy remain one of the best in the country.
